HANDMADE SPECKLED MATT GLAZED STONEWARE BREAKFAST BOWL

  • £40.00

Speckled stoneware clay in an earthy ochre tone covered in powdery matt white glaze create the satisfying matt finish of these rimmed breakfast bowls. The glaze is thick and yet has intentionally been applied in a way that leaves parts of the clay covered only in a thin layer. This allows the beautiful, speckled clay to come through in certain parts of the dish while creating pools and drips of clay in other areas giving these bowls their unique finish. Ideal for serving soups, dessert, and of course breakfast, these bowls are functional, designed for daily use, while at the same time being so aesthetically pleasing that every meal served from them feels like a treat.

Designed in collaboration with Skye Corewjin and individually made by hand in her London studio, the bowls are substantial and weighty while retaining a simple elegance. Skye’s skilful selection of the perfectly textured finish and expert execution of simplicity in form have created this range of elegant, tactile ceramics that enhance the daily experiences of preparing, eating, and serving food.

Care: All of our speckled matt glazed dishes are dishwasher and microwave safe. That being said we recommend washing all handcrafted pieces by hand wherever this is possible in order to increase their longevity. As with all matt glazes, marks from sharp objects such as cutlery will leave traces over time. These marks are part of the natural patina of well-loved ceramic dishes.

Note: each piece is made by hand and variations in shape, size, and finish are an inherent part of handmade objects and not to be treated as faults. This diversity is precisely what makes handmade pieces extraordinary.
