Vintage Handwoven and embroidered Amazigh Glaoui Runner
A rare and exceptional Amazigh Glaoui runner in black, cream, and yellow, with a muted red warp. Sourced from Telouet, it is created using a mixed weaving technique that combines flatweave and embroidery with sabra (plant silk). The intricate detailing, the subtle sheen of the sabra threads, and the carefully selected, nuanced colour palette give this runner an opulent and luxurious feel. The piece has a slight lean toward one side, which does not detract from its overall beauty. This rug reflects exceptional skill on the part of the weaver, requiring between three and four months of daily work.
With acknowledgement and gratitude for the woman weaver who conceptualised and crafted this unique item. Please take the time to discover more about the Amazigh ('Berber') weaving tradition here.
