Ellei Home Linen Cushion Cover - Harbour Stripe
The Ellei Home 100% Linen Cushion Cover Collection is a collaboration between Ellei Home and AR Creative Studio. Designed in-house and handmade by Agata Ratajczyk, owner of the small Edinburgh-based sewing studio AR Creative, these cushion covers are handcrafted using 100% European laundered linen.
The design: A muted verdigris blue and rich chestnut brown alternate in a wide stripe. This unique fabric is created by weaving blue and brown linen weft threads over a green linen warp, giving it a cool, breezy appearance with a distinctly individual character. Finished with an end, rather than a central envelope closure for a sleek, clean look, each cushion cover is trimmed with a hand-sewn Ellei Home woven cotton label.
The fabric: With a strong heritage of linen spinning and weaving, this cloth is produced in small batches at one of the oldest flax mills in Lithuania. Laundered and tumbled at the mill for softness, the 160gsm linen has a light, slouchy look and feel that makes it ideal for decorative scatter cushions.
Production: Produced in small batches in collaboration between two small Edinburgh-based businesses. Designed by Ellei Home, with consideration given not only to creating a distinctive and expressive aesthetic but also to our preference for thoughtful, circular design. This is why Ellei Home cushion covers are made using 100% linen and an envelope closure rather than buttons, making them easier to reuse, recycle, or biodegrade once no longer needed in their current form. Sewn in very small batches by our neighbour at AR Creative Studio, each cushion cover is carefully made by Agata in her bright studio, just 15 minutes down the road from us.
Wool Inserts: Cushion covers do not come with inserts as standard; however, if you are based in the UK, you can purchase our custom-designed wool cushion inserts. While down inserts undeniably create the plushest look and feel, and synthetic inserts are often the most economical, we offer only wool inserts for ethical and environmental reasons. They are made using 100% British wool and a cream 100% cotton cambric cover. Our inserts are designed specifically for our collection: slightly larger than the cushion covers to ensure the edges fill out beautifully, but gently underfilled to create the slouchy, relaxed look we love.

Care Instructions for Cushion Covers
We recommend washing the cushion covers as infrequently as possible to prolong their lifespan. Wash at 30°C with a non-bio detergent free from optical whiteners, using a low-spin cycle. Do not tumble dry. Shake out and dry flat. Linen tightens after washing, but the fibres will relax again with time and use.
Linen naturally crinkles, creases, and moves. With use, your cushion covers will become beautifully soft but show creases and folds in areas of wear. You can iron them for a crisp look, but we see this evolving texture as part of linen’s charm and as an essential element of its relaxed, lived-in character.
Care Instructions for Cushion Inserts
Plump cushion pads regularly to maintain their shape and comfort. Over time, wool may clump slightly; you can use your hands to tease the fibres apart. Rotate cushions regularly to ensure even wear.
