Vintage Amazigh Beni Ouarain Rug with Brown Wool Detailing

A simple and understated vintage Moroccan Amazigh rug woven from local undyed wool in a soft cream tone. The design features a thin border in natural undyed brown wool along the top and bottom edges, subtly framing the otherwise minimal composition.

The rug’s weft combines slightly darker and lighter brown wool, creating gentle tonal variation and adding texture to what would otherwise be a solid ivory Beni Ouarain–style carpet. This well-used piece shows visible wear to the pile, with the central area worn down to the underlying flatweave. This patina lends the rug a quiet sense of history and character, while also making it particularly practical for use beneath a working desk, where the flatter central surface allows a desk chair to move comfortably

Age: 1980s–1990.

Material: Local Moroccan handspun undyed wool.

Condition: This rug shows clear signs of previous use. The central section of the pile has worn away, revealing the underlying flatweave, while the surrounding pile remains intact. This wear is consistent with its age and use and does not affect the rug’s structural integrity. Its worn surface makes it especially suitable for placement beneath a desk or in working spaces.
