Vintage Amazigh Textural Beni Ouarain Rug with Shaggy Pile
This Moroccan Amazigh Beni Ouarain rug places emphasis on material and texture rather than pattern. Woven in thick, shaggy wool with a medium-length pile, the carpet features fringing along the top and bottom edges as well as additional fringe details running along either side.
Subtle rhythmic horizontal bands appear across the cream field, created by intentionally omitting several rows of knots to form quiet stripes within the surface. Additional texture is introduced through small triangular omissions in the knotting along the edges, as well as narrow bands of kilim weaving positioned near the top and bottom of the rug just before the fringe.
The medium-length pile is woven using slightly darker cream wool, giving the rug a warm tone that can appear almost light brown in softer or lower lighting conditions. Simple yet striking, this piece has a distinctly modern feel while remaining grounded in traditional weaving techniques.
